As is often the case these days in the world of advertising and Instagram ‘explore,’ one day scrolling my phone Marc Nolan Shoes hit my screen showing me some cool hi-top sneakers. I imagine this was as I was launching my own range of hi-tops and Google thought they could sell me another pair by advertising some by Marc Nolan versions. I was intrigued by the design of those hi-tops, but upon exploring the brand more, I saw that I was not a fan of the dress styles. So I kept my eyes on them to see if that was a fluke or if they would continue to bring some interesting models to the mix.
Overall, I like their idea as a brand. Very colorful and style-mixing-focused. I would not wear about 90% of them, but I always have time for a business that is bringing unique ideas to a boring world of overkill fashion. Marc Nolan pushes the limit on that idea without going overboard in my opinion. Some might argue with me on that point, though. Ultimately, while being a champion for pushing dress shoes, one must remember my roots and where I started: sneakers and boat shoes! At the end of the day, I love all shoes, all styles, and all colors. Just call me the modern-day Imelda Marcos.
In case you have not noticed before, I love anything braided. So it was natural that the featured shoes caught my eye. And outside of the workplace, I often dress a bit more sporty, especially in the Summer. I would easily rock all three of these shoes, especially the blue ones being that blue is my favorite color. Putting these together took some real creativity. The matching on the leather and sole is perfect on the green and blue ones. That is not easy to do, nor to find, at least not without ordering 1000 pairs.
While not loving this design on dress styles, I think it looks great on a plimsole sneaker model. Because this ‘loafer-monkstrap’ look, for me, is more casual and fun than it is ‘dress.’ So they did a great job at putting these on a more fun overall design instead of trying to make it yet another thin-soled loafer that every other Italian fashion brand is doing these days.
While I won’t recommend their dress models, I think that if you are looking for some fun sneaker-style shoes in colorful mixes of leather and material, you should give Marc Nolan a look!
