The Shoe Snob Blog has yet another update. A much better version than the previous, not only in terms of site and functionality but also in branding and logos. It has been a heck of a ride the last few years and at one point felt like a never-ending series of issues with the blog, stemming from my last re-design. I won’t go into detail but I can tell you, if you own a website, always spend a lot to get the right work. The age old saying ‘you get what you pay for’ is definitely true in website functionality. Let me tell you!
On top of that, I was blessed to be contacted by a blog reader who offered me the opportunity to refresh my logos and thus my branding not only on the blog but also for my shoe brand, J.FitzPatrick. A longer post will soon come on him and that experience as I feel it is important as a subject on the whole as we often battle our own egos thinking that what we have is best and cannot be made better. Yet, the reality is, as the world moves fast, things can always be updated/improved.
For years, I have been saying that I am going to do better on the blog. I started my blog writing a lot of rant posts as well as a lot of educational posts. That is when I had 4-5 hours to spare on one post, as that is how long they can take. But as my shoe brand got larger, and my time spread thinner, it was hard to dedicate to the blog as I should have been doing. And while there are now many other bloggers out there that might do the posts that you are looking for, my goal now is to refine what I have already done as with over 2500 posts over the course of 13 years, there are few subjects that I have not written about. But finding that needle in the haystack is the issue.
I realized that more so than writing new posts that I needed to rewrite old posts that have valuable information yet I just slapped it all together without caring much about how it looked. I also need to start caring more about my backend and how to clean it up so that you can all find the posts you are curious about whether it is in shoe care, leather info, a specific brand or other. I want you to be able to easily access all of the posts that deal with said subject for you to be able to deep dive into your category of interest.
The first step is done. That is the new site that is faster and cleaner than the last. Now, I will need to start getting the backend organized so that you have all of the information you desire at your fingertips, more easily accessible and found. This will take time but it is a top priority of mine. I will soon start rewriting old posts that have great info but horrible editing and imagery 😉 Lots has changed in phone camera’s since then! Ha!
I hope that you all enjoy the new look, layout and speed of the site, as well as my new logo!
The new site looks good. It indeed has a streamlined effect. Looking forward to reading interesting articles and reviews.
Thank you Kerry!
