The AI shoe, by The Last Shoemaker, is a great story of seeing an interesting concept online and attempting to recreate it using pure intrigue and passion. And a story I would love to share and hopefully inspire others to follow suit and/or order a pair ;-). Allan Donnelly of The Last Shoemaker was browsing social media and came across one of those AI-generated shoes from a profile that dabbles in creating this type of artwork while at the same time sharing their own personal footwear. See that image below.
The image labels its inspiration as patchwork and stained glass, which to be fair is a perfect description of how it looks. But as it is computer art and not an actual pair of shoes able to be purchased, Allan set off on a quest to create something similar that someone could wear. The one problem is that clearly stained glass cannot be incorporated into a pair of shoes so Allan decided to focus on the ‘patchwork’ side of things to create this AI shoe. And that he did including a matching belt that was showcased and launched at last year’s New York Super Trunk Show.
I personally would never wear these shoes but think that it is one of the coolest things I have seen. It is true shoe art and I love the fact that for someone out there who would wear them, they now have the chance to by ordering them at The Last Shoemaker. And I hope that people do order them and do so utilizing different colors. I love the creativity Allan incorporates into his footwear. Every year his entry for the World Championship in Bespoke Shoemaking is always something I look forward to seeing. Sometimes it’s wacky, but always wacky-cool.
These are not yet listed on their website but are certainly orderable. Just mention this post if you have a hard time figuring that out. And let’s see these patches in different materials and colors for those of you bold enough to pull them off. I do look forward to seeing someone who takes the plunge and what they come up with.

I think they are super cool looking. Not sure what I would wear them with, but I’d consider owning them if the price was in range. They look awesome. I want to see other variations of the design.

I do not think they charge so much, might be worth enquiring 😉
