Sapatero’s new Belgian loafers has really upped their game lately in their with the release of these two featured shoes. The black loafers came first. And I was impressed with those. I like that they made a shoe out of a Belgian loafer style. What I mean by that is that they made it on a proper sole and not this typical casual sole that is all-the-rage these days. Those Belgian styles have their place for sure and I do like them but the fact that everyone is doing them makes them played-out quite quickly for me. They lost their specialness.
Adding a tassel to the Belgian style really upped it a notch. At least for me. Now its a proper tassel loafer in a belgian style with a proper sole. My kind of shoe! And they are elegant, too. They almost feel formal in a casual way, if that makes any sense. Either way I love them.
Lastly, Sapatero added the braided string to it and made a two-tone bi-material version in burgundy to really set the bar high for uniqueness. That was the icing on the cake. I love both versions but really like the burgundy ones. I could really see myself playing around with the various colors and materials one could use on that loafer.
I look forward to seeing this loafer ordered more often and seeing what people come up with. And if you feel so inclined you can do so at the link below!
