After all of these years writing the blog and studying shoe brands around the world, it is still refreshing to know that I can discover new brands that are, in fact, not new at all. One of those brands is Sanyo Yamacho, who have actually been around since 2001, producing some of the finest RTW shoes made in Japan. Sanyo Yamacho shoes are, in fact, considered a pride and joy of the Japanese shoe culture enthusiasts, making shoes in Japan, for Japanese people. And rightfully so. The Japanese are a very proud culture that takes the ‘art of the craft’ very seriously.

Sanyo Yamacho is joining our first-ever Singapore Super Trunk Show, Saturday, January 31st, and will be presenting as one of our Gold Sponsors. While, historically, I believe you could only access their footwear while in Japan, I do believe this marks a desire to grow internationally. This is often easier said than done for Japanese brands, as there are strict controls that limit the exportation of their goods. But it is nice to know that they are trying and that we will be showcasing Sanyo Yamacho Shoes. As this brand is very new to me, it will be a great time to get to know more about them. Even more so, to see, touch, and photograph the shoes in person.

Sanyo Yamacho specializes in very classic and conservative shoe models. They take pride in specialized details like skin-stitched aprons and seamless heels. They are one of the few RTW brands in the world that offer a seamless whole cut oxford. And the only brand that offers a seamless whole cut loafer, outside of bespoke. For those that do not want to shell out nearly $2000 for that seamless oxford, they also offer a ‘semi’ seamless with the heel region seam free, moving it inward on the inside heel cup. They take their whole cut oxfords very seriously!
The seamless loafers are especially appealing to me. Not only for the fact that I had not seen one before, but because I love a wholecut tassel loafer. I suppose that is a popular model for them. Also interesting is the Faux Seam, Seamless Cap Toe model, which offers a seamless experience with the design of the classic cap toe. Again, another model, I have not seen elsewhere. I find both of these very intriguing and hope to see them in person soon!

Their pricing starts around $500 and goes up to $2000 for the seamless models. Their shoes are welted, and I presume they are using European leather. I could be wrong there, but I doubt it. The challenging part is knowing whether or not they actually export Sanyo Yamacho Shoes via their online portal. A quick Google indicates that they do not, but I am sure there is a way to grab a pair without going to Japan. I will research this more when I meet them in less than 2 weeks.

I will leave their website below for those who wish to learn more. You will want to translate the site, and from what I gather, the site is owned by their parent company, Sanyo Shokai, which is an apparel producer. If you are in/around the Singapore region in two Saturdays from today, Jan. 31st, 2026, make sure to come see them in person at the Singapore Super Trunk Show.
