HAPPY NEW YEAR MY DEAR READERS!!!
I hope that all of you had a great holiday season and that you are ready for a great 2014! I know that I am!
To kick it off, I thought that I would share with you some beautiful bespoke Berluti’s that were commissioned by a dear blog reader. The first pair shown at the top, needless to say, is utterly brilliant (without exaggeration). Not only have I never seen those beautiful little designs on the eyelet’s before but neither have I seen the color mauve used so brilliantly especially on a pair of shoes no less! It truly is a work of art. What is interesting is the fact that while many of you might think that since it is Berluti that it therefore just might be a creation of Anthony Delos, but they are in fact made and designed by another one of their master shoemakers, named Patrice Rock.
While I can’t say that I am the biggest fan of Berluti RTW shoes for the simple fact that I feel that they are extremely overpriced and since the departure of Olga Berluti as head of the company it has seemed to take a turn for the worse, I cannot deny the fact that they still do make very nice and well made bespoke shoes. And these unique beauties are proof of that! Hopefully one day soon (maybe the next time I go to Paris), I will actually have the pleasure of visiting the bespoke workshop and seeing where the magic happens. Only shame will be that Delos won’t be there!
Here’s to the start of a great 2014 with many exciting things to come for the new year! Just to let you know, as soon as I think of a fun way to do it, I will be giving away a free pair of shoes!! So be on the look out!
Sincerely,
Justin, “The Shoe Snob”
Patrice is a long time shoemaker with Berluti and if I’m not mistaken he only takes orders in Paris, while Anthony takes orders for London, Japan and Middle-East. LVMH has the annual open house of their craft in June/July and Berluti is part of it.
thanks for sharing Moses!
The Berluti eyelets look like a sphincter.
