It is not often that I get to visit the Corthay shop in London. It might sound silly that while it is only about 20 mins away, it feels like eternity to get there and come back and with as hectic as my days are, it is hard to justify it. Also I am not a fan of Knightsbridge and all of the flash that goes on there. I much prefer Mayfair. But that is another story!
Anyway, I did manage to get there a few weeks back and take some snaps of what I saw and what was new. All and all, there are not a ton of new models but rather new colorways in existing models. What is completely new was the completely deconstructed loafer that you see in the photo below that you can bend like pancake, which I believe is set to launch come S/S2017. The balmoral cap oxfords and chukka boot was also a new addition to the Corthay family. And while I like the new boot and oxford, I do feel that they stray on the safe side of classic British design as opposed to the French Flair that Corthay is so known for and what I love about them. But it does make sense as one cannot have too much of one style but rather it is smart to always have a mix of classic and adventurous to thus appease everyone.
The Arca’s in patina suede are probably my favorite derbies of all time. I have never been a fan of derbies but with the shape of their last and the patina on that lovely suede, I could see myself getting a lot of use out of all of those colors, wearing with both jeans and suits. What more could you ask for?!
That burgundy suede Arca is quite something!
