Here we take a closer look at these beautiful Yearn Shoemaker derbies, one of their custom options made via their MTO program. Yearn Shoemaker is one of China’s most exciting shoe brands and for good reason. Yearn offers one of the best values on the market with shoes as low as $510 and completely handmade. It is hard to find a better value proposition for that.
What I like about these Yearn Shoemaker derbies is that they are simple. In the sense, that they are not trying to make the fanciest details but rather a solid shoe for a good price with nice features. You can see that in the making, where they offer a beautiful beveled waist, but it might be ‘as perfect’ as some of the competition that sells for a few hundred more dollars. Some of you will want to pay for those details, but some of you might just want a great shoe for a great price. And few offer that better than Yearn shoemaker.
This derby model is one of Yearn Shoemaker’s Made to Order models. You will not find it in their Ready Made offering. But that means you can select the color choice you like. You can also select the last and sole. Although these dark grey (supposed black) with olive tips and heels are quite unique!
Some might say that these are a play on Corthay’s famous Arca, and maybe they are although the design is quite different. But most people cannot afford that shoe, almost pushing $2000. For those of you who appreciate that sleek, two-eyelet derby look but need something more within price range, then these are a great option.
Yearn’s owner, Tim Liu, is a great guy who speaks fluent English so do not be afraid to reach out and get help on any questions you might have. Soon, I will interview Tim where you can get to know him a bit better and put a face behind a name.
