The Clean Lines of Masaru Okuyama

The Clean Lines of Masaru Okuyama
Masaru Okuyama doesn’t make crazy unique shoes like many of the Japanese bespoke shoemakers out there, but one thing that you can always count on with regards to his shoes are the finessed laser-like lines to his lasts, welts, heels etc. His shoes always look flawless and beyond perfect. I think that he just might also be the master of the wholecut, as I am always astounded when I see his take on it (as shown below).

If you are ever in Hong Kong you must look him up. I didn’t get a chance to when I was there and I regret it. But I will next time.

This Friday he will actually be hosting a trunk show in HK in conjunction with Kevin Seah and Mason & Smith. Check it out if you have some time and see the invite below.

Welcome to The Shoe Snob Blog!

This blog was created to not only show the journey of one man who wanted to make the shoe industry the best it could be but also the share all of the knowledge gained along the way.

Ultimately this blog is about seeing men wearing better shoes through education and sharing what is out there that deserves recognition.
