I have always liked Scarpe di Bianco as I felt that they created such a great fusion between Italian & British craftmanship and design, not to mention that their shoes are of exceptional quality (see review here). It always makes me wonder how some brands will just take off in the blogosphere/industry and become the next biggest thing, while others of the same caliber won’t. I guess, like trends, it’s simply timing. I do believe though that SDB will have their time. Someone will wise up to the great shoemaking that takes place down in the South of Italy and purchase their brand for their shop. Then as most trends occur, others will start to follow… But I guess only time will tell.
One thing that owner, William White, told me was that they are releasing a sub-brand, called Gallo, which is of a lower pricepoint (if I remember correctly it starts at $695, but it might have been $595). This might be good news for some that have always aspired for SDB style of shoes but could not afford their +$895 pricepoint. Other than that, it is the usual for SDB: cool shoes, great colors and lovely designs. Always a pleasure to see what is on the up and up for hungry brands and of course it was a pleasure to have finally met William in person. Very nice guy and here’s to hoping that SDB will get it’s proper recognition!
You are right Justin, they are definetely “on the move” !
I just bought a pair of Gallo Bianco Cognac Double Monk straps from Nordstrom’s online. It seems they are becoming more available.
