There is something special about a true menswear shop. And a menswear shop is not just any shop that carries men’s clothing. There has to be a feel to it. The selection matters, the details matter, and the people who work there matter the most. Old House Provisions has all of those traits. And you feel it the second that you step into the shop.

The owner of Old House Provisions is Drew Altizer, who is a shoemaker who moonlights as a shop owner. But the reality is that these days, he is more shop owner than anything, as he is a force of one, doing everything all by himself. It is admirable, and I know exactly how it feels. Drew has done an amazing job with this shop. Every detail is right; from the collection he carries to the visual merchandising of the shop, right down to the location of it, too. And to top it off, Drew is funny, charismatic, and a nice guy.

I recently had the pleasure of spending a few days at Old House Provisions, as I had a trunk show there and enjoyed it greatly. Drew and I got to know each other and had a lot in common. And I was like a kid in a candy shop with all of the clothes. Drew’s tastes parallel my own, and much of the offering was right up my alley in terms of style. Sadly, I stopped buying clothes a while back as my collection became excessive, and now I am working on shrinking it.
Old House Provisions currently stocks Edward Green, Alden, Paraboot, Viberg, and Baudoin & Lange. Drew also makes bespoke shoes, but currently has a very long wait list 😉

If you are a shoe/clothing brand reading this post, I know that Drew is open to having other brands host trunk shows in his shop. If you want an introduction, you can let me know, or you can reach out directly. Mind you, Old House Provisions has a very specific look and feel and won’t simply accept any brand to showcase.
If you are ever around the D.C. area, I highly suggest popping over the bridge, visiting Drew’s shop, and hanging out in Old Town Alexandria. It is a beautiful place with a vibrant social scene on the river. I highly suggest it!
