As many of you may know, I have been following Mes Chaussettes Rouges since their inception. Since then, we have become friends and business partners per se, in the sense that they advertise with me and when I am in Paris, I host my trunk shows there. It has been a great relationship and I love to see each year how they progress and grow their business. It is actually inspiring as believe it not, they have been so successful creating a sock empire from just a few models/colors of plain dress socks to an inventory that blows your mind and a beautiful shop in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. And this year, during a year most of us will never forget, they continue to expand, inspire and offer new ideas that are going to be the stepping stone into their continued progression!
The history of their offering, year after year, showed continued boldness. But baby steps in doing so. The first years were single-colored socks. Following those were basic horizontal stripe socks. Then subtle, classic patterns such as herringbone and houndstooth. Then came a bit more bold patterns, that were unique but not quite pushing boundaries. And now, they entered the year of truly stepping out of the comfort zone and doing some very bold and unique stuff. Even more so than what I show you hear, being that I am only so daring in the sock department. But I love some of these new patterns, particularly the model highlighted at the top. I only wish it came in more color options.
It is good to see the expansion to more bold offerings happen. The owners are quite classic gents so I know that this took a step outside of normality to go forward with it. But I am sure they feel good about it. With the rise of Instagram and people showing off their personal style, more and more people are seeing that being bold can be done tastefully, elegantly and frequently. It helps give people the security to also step outside of their comfort zone and try something new. And I can imagine that the ones shown in this post have done well.
And December is the perfect month to stock up. With the Christmas spirit in the air, not only can you gift some good socks, but also good to treat yourself with them too! I know that I will definitely be grabbing a few of these, to say the least. And possibly gifting a few to the wife too 🙂 . And for those that know that socks make the best presents, Mes Chaussettes Rouges have even put together some Christmas packages on bundled sets. Those make it nice and easy for you to get your shopping done without thinking much 🙂
I hope that you all enjoy the new patterns as much as I do!

Justin I recently bought four pairs of socks from Mes Chaussettes Rouges, in part thanks to your recommendation. I went with the OTC socks and theyre great. I find, however, that my trousers stick to the socks and it looks awkward. Any suggestions? Maybe I should go with the mid-calf options? Love your site. Thanks!
Thanka for your comment abd support Danny, I appreciate it. Are your trousers slim? And wool? If so, then I have the same problem. Its the trousers…not so much the socks. On certain trousers I wear too the socks are always getting pulled down
Yes, my trousers are both slim and wool. I reached out to Mes Chaussettes Rouges and they suggested the mid-calf. Thanks for replying!
Mes Chausettes make a terrific no-show or, what was once called, peds. Still, for the main sock lines, VK Nagani in NYC has been making the finest socks on the planet for 20 years(on Houston St by the way) and somehow this has been missed.
