Tomoyuki Watanabe got his start by training in shoemaking under a Japanese master shoemaker with 50 years of experience, and seven years ago he started his own brandBolero Shoemaker. His style of shoes is very classic with well-balanced last shapes, mainly aniline leathers and traditional styles. But lately I have seen him throw in a few twists in there which I have very much appreciated, like the feature green canvas monkstrap. The craftsmanship is of the absolute highest level.
For the super trunk show Bolero, known for Bespoke shoemaking, will introduce for the first time an MTO/MTM option, where customers try on fitting shoes at the venue and then decide last shape, model, leather etc, with the possibility to make small adjustments to the lasts to enhance fit.Theshoes are made to the same standard as his bespoke but just not on a 100% custom last. Prices will start at around 1,700/€1,900 for this offer. You can book an appointment at a set time during the day by emailinginfo@bolero-shoemaker.jp, but also drop-in orders during the day will be accepted. There is also the possibility to order bespoke, but that will incur a larger extra charge, for info on the mail above.
I am particularly excited to see these shoes in person, as you can see from the pictures, the quality, design and craftsmanship are all top notch!
