Dear Readers,
After much delay, our Spring/Summer stock is finally in. Part of the delay was due to the people that hand-stitched our aprons on our new Madison penny loafers and the other was of course a delay in leather, specifically the Antique Brown from Annonay. But fret not, the shoes are finally in and ready to be purchased (with the exception of about 10 pairs which are still 2 weeks in delay – as noted on the website).
As you will see I decided to do 2 main things for our new collection; 1. up the amount of loafers on offer and 2. use more of the chisel lasts (MGF and LPB). While the Laurelhurst will forever be my pride and joy, I knew that a classic tassel and penny loafer were needed in order to complete our offering of loafers. Anything on top now will just be for fun. As per the prevalence of the chisel last, well considering it is on trend at the moment and many people were requesting to see it more, I decided to really focus most of this collection’s offering on them.
Something different is our new last, the NGT, as show on our Tony III model. The shape is somewhat between the TMG and the JKF, but what has changed is the slight hump on the toe and a shallower vamp as well as marginally narrower width proportion overall. That being, for those of you with a slimmer foot, this last might be the way forward for you. It won’t be too far off from the rest of our other lasts, but will be fractionally more “fitting,” per se. Another new addition to the collection is our Medina model which is our take on a U-Cap oxford with a touch of brogue detailing. As a lover of oxfords, I felt that this would complement the selection already in existence.
The last thing is the use of more Italian/German leathers and less usage of French tanneries. I have found better consistency in coloring for the crust leathers as well as grain tightness (for a cleaner look on the leather). You will now see on each shoe’s ‘Facts’ section, the name of the tannery and where the leather is from for each model. With that, I have also added a new color on offer which is our “Shaded Merlot,” as seen on our Rainier II model. I will use this to replace our Deep Merlot as I find it to be a nicer shade with a bit more depth to it. Stay tuned for more as I am constantly working on new leathers to offer not only the best in quality but also in comfort and durability.
I hope that everyone enjoys what they see and as a thank you for all of your loyalty, I will be offering a 10% discountuntil May 3rd on all things purchased at www.jfitzpatrickfootwear.com by using the code JF-BLOG at the checkout stage.
P.S. Please bear in mind when we have an influx of orders in launches such as this, sometimes they don’t get shipped between 48-72 hrs after purchased. But our shipping is very fast so not to worry anyway. Also, the discount applies to online purchases only and not in-store purchases.
Sincerely,
Justin, “The Shoe Snob”
