Crockett & Jones has just started previewing their Winter Collection in their online shop. As one would expect it is full of heavy-set boots, as well as some beefed-up derbies and your classic Boston loafer. Not to mention a sleek new mid-cut chelsea boot! Oil-greased pull-up leathers and rough-out suedes seem to be the focus as have been for a few years now. Which makes complete sense as we move into a more casual world.
It would appear that this year, at least as of now, they are not highlighting any actual new models outside of the Harris chelsea boot, but rather existing models in a change of color, sole and/or last shape. Which, in all honesty, makes sense if models are popular. I always battle my “inner self” for my own company if I want to drop new models or beef up stock lines of existing ones in other colorways or sole types. In reality, I would love to have all models offered in 6-7 variations, which Crockett & Jones does a good job doing. And better for clients who love a certain model and don’t mind having it in 3-4 different variations. That might sound crazy to some, but believe me, that is very real for others!
There are a lot of commando-style soles on the models in this collection and for good reason. I feel like it will be a very cold winter. Last year, we got off easy. At least in the NE region of the US where it was actually quite very mild. And it has been for 2 years now. We are bound for a cold one! And nothing is better than keeping dry then a good commando-style sole. There is also nothing better to save you money on resoles!
Currently, C&J is just previewing the collection. We are actually still in Summer but I won’t lie, I am already thinking about my Winter purchases. Actually just bought a nice overshirt jacket from Uniqlo yesterday. And I am sure many of you are in the same boat. You cannot actually pull the trigger on any of these now but you can sign up to get notified once the stock is ready to be purchased.
