Vass Now Stocked in London - On Savile Row at the Cad & Dandy

Those of you in London or who visit often will be pleased to know that VASS shoes are now officially stocked in the great city and at none other than on one of the greatest streets of all time, Savile Row.

Although I like to make posts in my own words, I am a bit pressed for time today as I am attending to my trunk show in Los Angeles so will leave you with a press release written by others

“Following the success of their collaboration earlier in the year at the Details of a Gentleman event, The Jaunty Flâneur and Ascot Shoes are pairing up again to launch a full-time studio in Cad and the Dandy, Savile Row.

Shoe lovers are now able to see and try on Vass shoes in a CentralLondon store. A wide range of Vass styles and the full Ascot Shoes range of lasts are available for viewings, fittings, and the team has all the sample leather swatches and details to guide customers through the made-to-order programme. As regular readers will already know, Vass shoes are all fully hand-welted, hand-lasted and hand-soled, making them truly handmade. The MTO option lets you create a virtually unique and custom bespoke designfor yourself.

Ascot Shoes, run by Karl Chu, was born out of his passion for high-end, hard-to-find shoes, and over the years has become the official UK distributor for Vass shoes with a large amount of business across the world. Apart from a few trunk shows, however, Ascot Shoes business model has been almost entirely online. With this new collaboration, Karl is making his shoe designs easier to access and, for those on the fence thinking about sizing, the addition of being able to physically see and try on the shoes is an exciting new venture.

The Jaunty Flâneur, founded by Tom Beecroft already has shoeshine and shoe polishing locations around Mayfair and St James’s and will be using the Savile Row space to build on their patina services. They have taken on PJ Upadhyaya as a full-time colourist to focus on client consultations and patina projects from restoring an original finish or completely changing shoes and leather bags/accessories to a new colour with shading and colour effects. Having a patina desk in the store means that clients can actually see PJ at work applying leather dyes with brushes to develop nuances in shading and subtle variations in colour that give the great depth that good patina is all about.

Follow the Ascot Shoe and Jaunty Flâneur Instagram accounts for details of a launch party and up-coming trunk shows hosted in their space in the near future.
