For those who love side-sweeping monk straps will love the new Twinkima.g double monks. The naysayers will immediately say, ‘But, but, those are a copy of John Lobb.’ Who cares? People buy John Lobb to say that name when asked about their shoes. Not because they would opt for a less expensive version. Thankfully, brands that are more affordable take inspiration from the classic designs of brands far too expensive for the average person to ever justify affording. So, now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about them.

What I like about Twinkima.G is their lack of fear to combine suede with leather on classic models, making them far more appealing, at least to me. The new Twinkima.G double monks do just that and come in two distinct colorways: Black Box Calf with dark teal suede, and Brown Museum Calf with a tobacco-colored suede. I don’t know which one I like best, to be honest! One thing to note, the suede on the black pair is what they refer to as ‘midnight’, which is almost black but under light has hues of dark blue. That allows you the appeal of formality at night with the playfulness of contrast whilst in the sun during the day.

These new Twinkima.G sweeping double monks offer a great value proposition. As do most of their shoes.
Each pair is:
- hand-welted
- has a beveled waist on the bottom sole and the waist edge
- JR Soles
- toe taps
- a seamless heel
- Vibram heel patch protector
All for just $599. Not bad! They are also made to order in 10-15 days. That means that each pair is ‘fresh.’ It was not sitting around in a warehouse or previously tried on.

I have been personally dealing with Twinkima.G for a while now, in our own collaborations and marketing efforts, and I must say that their customer service is what really sets them a part. Even unbiased blog readers have stated the same. In this day and age of AI automated systems/responses and emails often never getting responded to, it is refreshing when you get immediate service by a real human being doing their best to answer your query and/or concern. And Twinkima.G does that well.

TwinkimaG is a fun brand. I really like their subtle twist on classis design. Kind of like this other great brand, J Fitzpatrick. And John Lobb may have been the first with a sweeping double monk, but TwinkimaG is far from the second. Although they don’t advertise it, you can have these made up in your choice of colorways. Plus it is cool that they include toe taps whcih everyone else upcharges for. And yes, they have great customer service as I can attest to. Plus they have some of the coolest packaging in the industry. This is another rising brand coming from China doing a great job delivering value in a high quality product.
