The British Pound Has Dropped -- Take Advantage Before It Rises Again
The Westlake

With the recent drop in the pound of about 25% in value, shopping for British products has been a lot cheaper for most everyone in the world as of late. This has probably made many of you happy, as buying British shoes has always been an expensive and risky undertaking. But not anymore.

For those of you in the US, it is particularly good as your government recently raised the exclusion level of personal importation of foreign products to $800 i.e. buying international products is now tax free for any individual purchase under $800 (that’s at least 2 pairs of our shoes). To top it off, we (at www.jfitzpatrickfootwear.com) do not charge shipping to the US nor all of the EU and the rest of the world is only 20.

It recently dawned on me when a client asked me, ‘Justin, your shoes are listing at $350 on your website, is that a mistake?’, that we are now cheaper then most of our competitors due to this drop in the pound. Both Allen Edmonds and Paul Evans cost about $40 more now, which for me is mind-boggling. I was always used to our shoes costing around $450 and then having duties smacked on top of that. But now, you can get us free and clear of all of that for only the price listed on our site as we do not charge shipping to the US and duties are now not imposed for anything less than $800.

That being, we wanted to remind you that should you have ever been thinking about getting a pair of our shoes, now is opportunity to seize as it will only be a matter of time before the British Pound stabilizes and we become more expensive again. Because anything too good to be true never lasts long.

Happy Shopping

  1. Hi Justin, this is no good news for you though… As your cost are in euro since you produce in Spain, you will have to raise your prices very soon or bit the dust while your margins fly away. You should think of relocating your company in the EU, the faster the better. Good luck for your company and good luck to Great Britain…
