The New York Super Trunk Show has been a long time coming.
I remember vividly when I had my first J.FitzPatrick trunk show in Gothenburg, Sweden and I met up with Jesper, of Shoegazing. I told him that I had an idea to make larger Super Trunk Shows around the world. At the time the Swedish version that Jesper created was the only one going. I wanted to start with London as I was living there. He thought it was a great idea so we hatched our first plan to make the London Super Trunk Show. My idea was the show and Jesper ended up making it so much bigger with all of the contests.
After the success of the first show, I told Jesper, we need to do more. Naturally, as my goal was to always end up in New York City, I told him NY was my next idea and maybe one in Asia and other places after that. This was about 7 years ago or so. At the time it was nothing more than ideas. We had to focus on London and grow that before attempting to start planning the world of shoe events ;-).
As fate would have it, I ended up moving to NYC, from London, far earlier than I anticipated. After that it was set: a NYC show had to be done. But fate struck twice when the Pandemic occurred and put all plans on pause. Now that everything is on the up and up, we put the wheels in motion again earlier this year and found a location here in the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
We also brought our friend, Kirby Allison, on board as a partner who will help further help to make this a great event! Kirby has done a tremendous job showcasing the London event on his world-famous YouTube channel as well as helping to bring the Bespoke Shoemaking Championship to fruition. It is an honor to have him assisting us on this new version.
