Espadrilles have just been launched for the first time at Skoaktiebolaget, the Swedish online shoe emporium. And I am happy to see it and somewhat jealous. I have been wanting to make my own models for some time now but actually finding the factory that makes good ones is hard. And believe it or not, the best ones I have ever seen are the ones that Skoaktiebolaget sourced: Castañer.
I originally saw them years ago at a mall in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I was highly impressed with them and had never seen them elsewhere, not even since then. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Skoaktiebolaget had picked them up and started to offer them. I think that Castañer makes some of the best espadrilles that I have ever encountered. When I originally saw them, they had all kinds of models, including penny loafer styles. Hopefully, they still offer those and Skoak adds them also as I feel they would be a popular model.
The prices are reasonable for the quality. $112 for the suede and only $96 for the canvas models. I can imagine that these will be a hot seller as espadrilles are such a great Summer option, especially for anyone traveling to a tropical place. In fact, I just got myself a pair while I was last in Barcelona and look forward to soon wearing mine.
If you have been on the hunt for a good set of espadrilles, definitely check these out.
