Trying new things is part of the fun in this industry, and today’s topic is a bit left field — barefoot slippers. In this CP Slippers review, I dive into the Spanish brand’s fully leather, minimalist house shoes that promise freedom, natural feel, and zero structure. As someone who loves slippers but also loves support, I was genuinely curious to see if these would win me over as part of the newfound ‘comfort revolution of barefoot footwear.’

First Impressions & Packaging
CP Slippers arrived in a very simple and trusting shipping box — no outer protection, just the box itself with a shipping label. Inside was a single pair of their Minimalist model, size L, in what looked like raw, natural leather, handmade in Spain. The packaging included care instructions, a small discount card, and the maker’s signature.
While minimal, it’s very much in line with their philosophy — natural, waste-free, and handmade with love.

About CP Slippers
Founded in 1981, CP Slippers is a family-run Spanish brand specializing in leather slippers and minimalist footwear. Each pair is crafted entirely by hand in Spain using a single piece of leather stitched into shape, designed to replicate the feeling of walking barefoot. The brand sits firmly within the barefoot movement, which advocates natural foot posture and freedom of movement over traditional structured footwear.
Being handmade is not a stretch here, as it is when welted shoes claim it, as there is really not a lot going on. I imagine they cut the leather by hand, and the only real query here is if the stitching is done by hand. I don’t doubt that it is.

Model Overview – The Minimalist Slipper
The Minimalist model is exactly that — one seamless piece of leather folded and stitched to form a slipper. There’s no midsole, lining, or padding; just soft vegetable-tanned leather roughly 2 mm thick.
It’s marketed as a barefoot experience, meant to let your feet move and feel the ground naturally. For those who love that “grounded” feeling, it’s ideal. For others, like myself, whose feet need more structure and support, it’s a tougher sell.
Only later did I realize that there was a premium version that has a corked bottom. I suppose that version might have been a better fit for my feet.

Fit & Comfort
The fit is true to size — my pair in size L, fit well width-wise but felt a little long. I feel that a Medium might have been better. The comfort depends entirely on your relationship with barefoot footwear. Personally, I found them too minimal. I prefer structure, arch support, and a bit of cushion underfoot, which is why I gravitate toward welted shoes and even more so, double soles in order to get that extra mid-sole.
For those used to barefoot walking, though, these likely feel liberating. But I sure could not last 10 minutes in these without feeling discomfort.
Quality & Construction Details
- Handmade in Spain using full-grain leather
- Single-piece construction with hand stitching
- Unlined natural leather interior
- Approximately 2 mm leather
- Designed for indoor use only
The craftsmanship itself is solid — the leather quality is good, the stitching neat, and the product feels durable for what it is.

Who They’re For
If you love the barefoot lifestyle or minimal home footwear — these are a perfect fit. If, like me, you need cushioning and support, you’ll probably find them too thin.
I can picture someone in a desert-style home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, walking around on cool terracotta tiles with these on — they fit that vibe perfectly.
Pricing & Value
CP Slippers retail around ≈ $60–80 USD, and for a fully hand-stitched leather slipper, that’s fair. The quality of materials and craftsmanship match the price point. Whether that value translates for you depends entirely on your comfort preferences.
Final Thoughts
I’m glad I tried something new. While barefoot slippers aren’t for me — my feet crave support — I respect the craft and purpose behind CP Slippers. For minimalist fans, this is a beautifully honest product: simple, natural, and handmade.
If you’ve ever been curious about barefoot living, this could be your gentle introduction.
