Here we take a look at the differences between the two common shoe constructions in the higher-end shoe industry to see if we can duke it out for a clear answer. But you have to listen to know!

Justin, Just watched Episode 3. I am glad you were drinking decaf during filming. Agree with all your points. I still can’t figure out the obsession some people have with certain shoe details like stitches per inch. If I like the lines and style of a shoe and it’s within my budget, I get it. Shoes can be functional art, but in the end you should wear them. The absurdity of the Uber-snobs was highlighted at the world championships in London. All the makers are skilled, but one of the awarded entry can’t be worn. Phenomenal workmanship, but you can walk in it. Watching your video i was reminded of this poem by Walt Whitman.
When I Heard the Learn’d Astronomer
When I heard the learn’d astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.
Thanks for sharing Russell and glad that you enjoyed the episode. Stay tuned for more!
